Every worship service at Temple needs several volunteers to provide a worship experience that is complete, meaningful, and welcoming. Below are areas where volunteers are needed on a weekly basis (individual volunteers are scheduled on a rotating basis): Acolytes - Typically reserved for children, acolytes serve during worship by lighting candles and assisting during the offering and Holy Communion. Altar Guild - The members of the Altar Guild care for the worship space, including changing the paraments and candles as needed. Altar Guild volunteers typically perform their duties at a time other than Sunday morning according to their own availability. Assisting Ministers - These volunteers work with the pastor and music staff to lead the congregation during worship services. Assisting ministers lead prayers and songs (optional) and assist with Holy Communion. Communion Setup - Volunteers are needed every Sunday morning to set the communion table and to clean up afterwards. These duties are done before/after the worship services. Counters - Counting teams meet every Sunday to count financial donations for the week and prepare the bank deposit and proper records for the financial officers. Due to the nature of this task, volunteer counters must be approved before being assigned to a team. Greeters - Greeters help provide a positive first impression to the person visiting for the first time as well as a friendly face to everyone as they arrive for worship. Readers - During every worship service, a reader stands before the assembly and reads two lessons from scripture. Open to anyone willing to try, including children. Ushers - Along with the greeters, ushers help assist people as they arrive for worship. Ushers also assist with the offering and Holy Communion. |
